An analytics-driven airspace consultancy:
helping national airspace designers create airspace designs that maximise both mission effectiveness and sustainable aviation

What we do

We specialise in airspace analytics and design to support our customers in transforming special use airspace, maximising flight training and force generation and minimising airline fuel consumption and emissions.

We support airspace designers through the following consulting services:

  • Analysing existing airspace designs for opportunities to improve mission effectiveness and civil traffic flows.
  • Creating new airspace designs free from established constraints.
  • Validating new airspace designs under realistic conditions. We can assess their suitability based on their shape, size and modularity with respect to mission effectiveness and civil traffic flows.

Who we are

Our team comprises civil and military experts in air traffic management and combat aviation, supported by deep expertise in analytics and computer science.

Problems we solve

We address two connected problems:

  • More special use airspace is needed for military mission training, particularly fifth generation combat air.
  • The interaction between special use airspace and civil flights needs to be decreased to reduce airline fuel burn and emissions.

Providing solutions to these problems is our specialist area.

Who we serve

We support national and supranational organisations including air navigation service providers, air forces and regulators.

Examples of recent work are:

  • Study of the performance of special use airspace with respect to civil traffic flows for the EUROCONTROL Performance Review Commission.
  • Scoping study of the North Sea Area initiative for expanded special use airspace for NATO partners on behalf of the EUROCONTROL Civil-Military Directorate.

We are very pleased to have appointed Airspace Unlimited as consultants and would highly recommend them in the challenging area of special use airspace.

Airspace Unlimited’s work overall has been outstanding, from sensitive stakeholder consultation through to innovative analysis, high quality reporting and insightful recommendations. We recommend them.
