Doug Meyerhoff brings a unique perspective based on work as both a military and civilian air traffic controller. With 28 years’ experience in the UK, Canada and UAE, and a commercial pilot’s licence, Doug has demonstrated a track record of success in complex Visual and Radar Air Traffic Control disciplines. Drawing from his broad experience, Doug finds the balance between non-aligned operational objectives leading to realistic and effective solutions.
Martin Hawley
CTO
Martin has 28 years’ experience in air traffic management, working at the interface of business, operations and technology. He has a broad range of expertise, including ATM performance, new operational concepts and technologies, cost benefit analysis, the environment and cyber security.
AVM (Ret’d) Justin Reuter
Chair
Recently retired from the Royal Air Force as an Air Vice-Marshal, his early career was spent as a Navigator. He amassed over 2000 hours flying the Tornado F3, deploying operationally to the Middle East, the Balkans and the South Atlantic and becoming a Qualified Weapons Instructor.
In 2018-2019 he was the Commander of UK Air Forces in the Middle East. He was the last operational commander of RAF Tornado aircraft and the first operational commander of the UK F-35B Lightning. His last military appointment was as the Director of Strategy at Strategic Command.
Karol Gőtz
Head of Data Analytics
Karol trained as an air traffic controller before taking a more analytical path in the industry. He has an MSc in Aviation and a PhD from the University of Zilina. His doctoral thesis was airspace valuation metrics and the impact of airspace changes. He has played a leading analytics role in a wide variety of projects including for EUROCONTROL, DG MOVE and several international airports.
Chris Veness
Software developer and computer
Scientist
Chris specialises in designing and managing large and complex information sets and has a special interest in aviation navigation. He has extensive experience of designing and developing database systems and database-sourced websites. His focus is on co-ordinating the development of systems for managing information; designing appropriate data structures and effective user interface for accessing information.
Denis Kolev
Mathematician and computer scientist
Denis is a specialist in Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining. He has a PhD from Glasgow University, School of Computing Science. His PhD was focused on combinatorial optimisation techniques, combined with Deep Learning. Denis undertook a EUROCONTROL training placement in 2013, on a project related to an application of Game Theory in air traffic management security and performance.
Paul Thomas
Non-exec, advisor on ATM systems and
operations
After a successful career in NATS, Paul became an ATM consultant and then advisor to Airspace Unlimited. He has extensive through-life systems knowledge from the standpoint of design, operation, integration, transition into service, maintenance, safety and security management and safety regulation. His experience covers the integration of military operations and standards into civil operations.
Suzanne Harkins
Suzanne has worked in innovative technology for nearly 20 years and is a growth consultant, supporting our strategy, stakeholder engagement and business development. She has a PhD in Sociology and brings valuable research methods to Airspace Unlimited.
Col (Ret’d) Andrew Carwardine
Non-exec, advisor on military issues
Following a distinguished military career Andrew has specialised in transformation programmes, financial and policy roles. He was a previous Executive Assistant to UK Chief of Defence Staff and has an excellent understanding of UK Defence. Andrew now works mostly with commercial software companies with cutting edge applications of data science, including block chain technologies. He maintains his connection with UK Defence through consulting projects and his role as a specialist non-executive for the Ministry of Defence.
Lt Gen (Ret’d) Anders Silwer
Advisor on air force operations
Anders served in the Swedish Air Force in a wide range of roles beginning as a front-line fighter pilot, ending his career as a 3 star General, responsible for Joint Acquisition and Training for the entire Swedish Defence Force. Many of his senior roles involved extensive engagement with NATO relating to airspace and mission requirements for multi-national exercises. Since his retirement, Anders has acted in a management consultancy role for a wide range of companies and military authorities.
